Pasture Bird review
This week I had nothing to do in my sad little life. However, I did come across a company called Pasture Bird. After half an hour of scrolling threw their website, I decided to place an order. What I received was my own custom box of chicken. Today I finally cooked with Pasture birds products, so I thought why the hell not write this review and share it with the world.
Please remember that shipping on all of Pasture Birds products is only available to the US. So, if your outside of the United States, you need to find an alternative company to buy your chicken from.
However, you may still enjoy reading the story of Pasture Bird and how it all started.
The sweet beginning to Pasture Bird
The reason why I really wanted to write this review was because of the heart warming story of how Pasture bird began.
The founder of the farm is Paul Grieve. He was born in Downtown Seattle and was a typical city kid. When he hit his adult years, he turned to a career in the marine cores.
Unfortunately, after serving his time in the military, he had caught Lyme’s disease from a tick. This may of lead to a few rough years for Paul. He and his family have decided to keep private about the whole situation.
After this, Paul decided that he needed to focus on his health. So, as he stated on their website, he “wanted to find out what organic means”. Soon enough he found the answer and bought himself and his family 50 chickens to keep in the backyard. Even his whole family joined in to create some healthy eating habits.
It’s been a fairy tale ever since. Paul and his family of 4 kids have dedicated their lives to Pasture Bird farm, now let’s out line in this review how the farm works.
How the farm functions
This is where Pasture bird farm impressed me, I had to review their system a few times, just to make sure it was as simple as it seemed.

All of the chickens on the farm are held in coupe at night, during the day they have acres to Rome free. However, the coupes, as you can see in the picture, are pretty big. Every single day Paul and his family move these coupes with the chickens to a new place in the field with a fresh patch of grass.
Why do they go to the effort of moving the coupes? Well, it’s actually quite clever. The chickens feed from the soil, plants, seeds, and worms in the dirt. After a day the chickens have exploited to majority of the natural foods on the ground. So, therefore moving the coupe everyday allows the birds to have a fresh and healthy supply of natural food.
Another benefit of this is that the chickens leave poop behind them. This means that the previous patch of grass that the coupe was on is now fertilised.
Pretty convenient right?
The farm has more than one source of income. They also like to show off their facilities and practices to the locals by hosting farm tours. Watch the video to learn more or visit the Pasture Bird site but don’t forget to read the rest of my review.
Why Pasture Bird go to the effort?
This part of the review is probably going to answer most of your questions about Pasture Bird farm.
Why do they go to the effort? Well, the easy answer is that they care.
It has been scientifically proven that free range natural fed chickens will offer more valuable nutrition and possibly even taste better.
A lot of companies that produce meet and animal products just say that their animals are all organic and free range. Don’t worry, this is certainly not the case with Pasture Bird.
So, how do all of these practices benefit the chickens?
Drug free
I had to do a small bit of research for this part of the review, however Pasture Birds chickens are 100% antibiotic and drug free. That is a guarantee. Numerous different farms inject their chickens to essentially boost profits. If a human consumes these drugs they will not have as strong as resistance against bacteria’s.
Let me explain a little bit more in depth. Farmers typically inject chickens to make them grow quicker and therefore reproduce quicker. However, antibiotics and drugs added to chickens are also meant to help defend from bacteria’s in the chicken.
This doesn’t work. Instead the bacteria will build up a resistance to the antibiotics. Therefore, when a human eats them, their body will not be able to defend from bacteria’s with the use of antibiotics. You can click here to read a more in depth article about drugging chickens.
Free range
While I examinied Pasture Birds website for this review, I noticed that they like to show off how their chickens are free ranged. But what is the actual point of free range chickens?
Free-range chickens are good for a number of reasons. Firstly, they are able to live a more natural life, with access to outdoor space to roam and forage. This leads to a happier and healthier bird that produces better quality meat and eggs.
Free-range chickens also have greater access to a variety of foods, including insects, seeds, and grasses, which leads to a more diverse and flavourful diet. They are also able to get more exercise, which helps to build stronger, leaner muscles.
Another benefit of free-range chickens is that they are often raised without the use of antibiotics and hormones. Which as we know, can be harmful to both the birds and humans that consume them. This means that free-range chicken is not only better for the animal, but also for the people who eat it.
My review and experience cooking with Pasture Bird
One of the most popular meat products from Pasture Bird farm is their chicken wings and I just happen to love chicken wings.
This farm has a unique approach to raising chickens using rotational grazing methods that involve allowing the birds to graze different pastures on their farm. This is claimed to results in producing meat and poultry products that are high in nutrients and free from any harmful chemicals, antibiotics, and hormones. I decided when reviewing Pasture Bird, that I wanted to put this to the test.
Here’s how I made chicken wings from Pasture Bird farm
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of Pasture Bird farm chicken wings
- Salt and pepper
- Garlic clove
- Paprika
- Olive oil
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Season the chicken wings with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, making sure that they are evenly coated.
- Drizzle some olive oil over the chicken wings and toss them to make sure they are evenly coated.
- Spread the chicken wings out on the baking sheet, making sure they don’t overcrowd each other.
- Bake the chicken wings in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and cooked through on the inside.
- If you want to add some barbecue sauce, brush it onto the chicken wings during the last few minutes of baking.
- Let the chicken wings cool down on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
- Squeeze a little bit of lemon juice over them if desired.
If you don’t have any herbs or spice, then perhaps you should take a look at raw spice bar.

The taste
Now for the most important part of all, how do they taste. In one word, bliss. Perhaps it is my cooking skills that helped season the wings perfectly. However, the meat was extremely tender. I mean it practically fell apart. Combine this with how juicy it was, and then you have the best chicken in the world.
I know I can sit here and tell you that it tastes great. However, if your local to the farm I can not encourage you enough to go down to Pasture Bird farms and review this chicken for yourself.
There may be a few top butchers that can offer this sort of quality, but by using produce from Pasture Bird farm to cook chicken wings is a great way to enjoy delicious, healthy, and sustainable meals. Why I eat chicken
Since we are after all a health and fitness website, we have to talk about why chicken is such a valuable food for your body.

This makes it an excellent food choice for building muscle. It is also low in fat and calories, but rich in vitamins such as B12 and B6, both of which aid in muscle growth and repair.
Additionally, chickens are usually free of hormones and antibiotics, making them a healthier choice compared to other meats.
Apart from muscle building, chicken can offer several health benefits. It can help reduce the risk of heart disease, improve bone health by providing essential vitamins and minerals, and boost the immune system. Incorporating chicken in your diet offers not only a delicious source of protein but also a variety of health benefits.

You already know that you have the option of building a box from Pasture Bird farms. To come clean I never actually built a box, instead I just ordered a few cuts from Pasture Bird to review.
If you do choose to build a box from Pasture birds, you can add as many cuts of meat as you like. I recommend 1 cut of every meat. Why, because you need to try them all. Not everyone knows what they do and don’t like. Ordering one of every cut will allow you to explore new tastes and textures of the purest chicken.
Another great reason to build a box of produce from Pasture Farms is the convenience it provides.
