What you should bring to the gym
Going to the gym is a new experience for many people. At one point in time we were all like this. However, don’t worry I am an active weight lifter and like to hit the gym 5 times a week. Every situation has happened to me before, I’ve been stuck at the gym without my gear, I’ve forgotten my gear at the gym, and so much more. So, here’s some advice on what you should bring to the gym.
Personal belongings you should bring to the gym
This seems pretty obvious, however, you would be amazed by the amount of people who forget to bring personal things to the gym. So, here’s a few personal belongings you need to bring to the gym.
The first thing you should always have on you is your phone. There’s a few reasons why you need your phone at the gym. A big one being safety. Besides, the gym can be a dangerous place. If you don’t know what your doing you can very easily hurt yourself by tearing a muscle, ligament, or even fainting.
Another good idea is head phones. I have never gone to the gym without bringing my head phones. So, why do I think there important? Well, for me personally they boost my concentration and take away distractions. They may not have the same effect for everybody but I still beleive that headphones are something that you should bring to the gym.
Water is very important when you are working out. I recommend trying to drink around 750ml to 1L of water while working out. If you are dehydrated you run the risk of headaches, loss of concentration, and even fainting. These are all things that are bad. Always remember that your gym may not have a water machine.

Here are the real things that you should bring with you to the gym
Trying to workout in a pair of jeans isn’t going to be comfortable and will not let you maximize your movement. It will also attract some strange looks. So, instead you should wear something that allows you to bend and flex your body in every direction. Wear something like leggings or jogging bottoms.
A good mindset
This may seem like a strange thing to put on this list. However, beleive me this is one of the biggest reasons why people fail. They bring a negative attitude to the gym or they think that it will be easy. It won’t be. The first thing you need to do is mentally prepare and motivate yourself for what a long road you are going to embark on. The second thing you need to do is limit your expectations. Don’t expect to squat 300 pounds on your first day and bare in mind it will take a long time and a lot of hard work to achieve your goal.
The gym isn’t a complicated place and you should never feel anxious about going there. More than likely you will never be the most unfit person there.
You should always bring the few essential things that we talked about to the gym.
The reason I wanted to write this post was just to prepare people for the gym. Just to let people know what to expect at the gym. The best piece of advice I can give you is that changes don’t happen over night. It takes weeks or months to achieve your goals. Never ever give up.
