Where can I workout for free

I’ve been working out and lifting weights for around 2 years. Believe me, I know gyms aren’t free. So, today while I was sitting at my desk, I decided the best post I could write today was about where you can workout for free.

To be completely honest and not to waste your time, it’s at home. Home is the perfect place and environment to workout in. I know your probably thinking “PLEASE DON’T TRY SELL ME A COURSE!! Don’t worry, this article and all of the information you need is totally free.

Let’s not waste any more of your valuable time and get started.

The N.1 best place to workout for free

Home is a tremendous place. It’s safe, it’s clean, and it’s judgemental free. If your on a budget and need somewhere free to workout, home is definitely the best place.

At this point, your probably wondering how you can workout with no equipment. Well, you don’t need any equipment.

Body weight exercises have existed for decades. It’s not complicated, let me explain what it is. Body weight exercises (calisthenics) are exercise where you use your body weight and gravity. For example, a push up is a body weight exercise as you are using your body weight and gravity to help build your muscles and burn calories.

Believe it or not, you can actually create a full body workout for free with only using body weight exercises that you can do any where.

Before you dive into the web and start to search for “the best body weight exercises”, I have a point to make. Calisthenics is a pretty hard way to workout and it’s not for everybody. However, there are different levels you can start at, so don’t worry.

If you search up calisthenics, then you will be greeted with lot’s of people doing hand stands and flips on pull up bars. As brilliant as I am, I can’t do that. Besides, big game calisthenics is something that you can work up to. But remember there’s no point in you trying to do hand stand push ups on your first day. Start slow!

Why home?

As I already mentioned, home is safe, clean, and judgemental free. Everybody likes their home.

Going to the gym is meant to be enjoyable. However, for some people it can be very daunting. Walking into a room full of buff dudes grunting and sweating is a nightmare for anyone who suffers from anxiety. Not to mention the price, knowing what to wear and bring.

If this is you, I understand. Besides, we all feel anxious sometimes. At your house, there’s no one there who’s going to call you fat and ugly. It doesn’t even matter how you look at home, no one is going to see you. Right?

Another massive benefit of working out at home is that it’s clean. As I said in the last paragraph, the gym is full of buff sweaty dudes. Sitting down on a bench after one of these guy’s isn’t very pleasant. Your house is free to be in and it’s clean, so wouldn’t you workout in it.

My final reason why working out at home is a good place if your on a budget, is because it’s zero hassle. For some, just driving to the gym can take 30 minutes. Therefore, the whole round trip, including working out, could take 2 hours.

When you compare this with a 45 minute home workout for free, things start to look up.

Other great places to workout for free

There is more than one place where you can workout for free and none of them actually require equipment.

The great outdoors

Being outside is super healthy, we all know that. Fresh air is sometimes the most powerful thing in the world, it clears your mind and freshens you up. That’s why I always go for a walk first thing in the morning, It sets me up for the day.

You can do body weight exercises on just about any flat surface, as long as it’s not covered in glass or on fire.

Parks

Parks are great places and usually aren’t being utilized enough by people. It is strange how they always seem empty right? Therefore, you should take this opportunity and go and do a free workout.

Exercises that require no equipment

Let’s go back to the very first point I made. You don’t need any exercise equipment to actually workout. There are dozens of different body weight exercises you can do and there are even other forms of exercise that you might not be remembering.

Walking/Running

Walking and running is one of the best forms of exercise. For people who are just starting out, I recommend you walk. Don’t push yourself to hard on the first day. However, many of you will be more than capable of running or even sprinting intervals.

Per single mile of walking you could burn up to 100 calories. This is the difference between losing weight and not. The best thing of all, it requires no exercise equipment so you can do it any where and is a totally free workout. But of course you can get yourself a treadmill for those rainy days.

Push ups

This has been a go to exercise for me for a long time. Push ups are a fantastic exercise to help build muscle and strength. You can even lose weight from them.

Personally, I like to do a set of 30 every morning. Why? it sets me up for the day. I feel strong after I do them and that’s a great feeling.

Push ups are an upper body exercise. This means that they won’t train your legs. Instead they train chest and arm muscles, which are two of the most used muscle groups in our body’s.

There are tens of different forms of push ups. I’m not going to list them all out because it would take way to long. However, some push up variations can help target specific parts of your chest, some can even target your shoulders and triceps.

The best thing is that there free and you can workout with them any where.

Squats

Squats are on of the most common exercises that you see. It’s easy to see why. A traditional squat targets just about every muscle in your legs and can even help your core.

Similar to push ups, there are loads of different variations of squats. I recommend starting with a regular squat. However, if that’s to easy, Then try and do a pistol squat. This is essentially a squat with only one leg. For weighted squats you will need equipment, however, why don’t you take advantage of the free body weight squats, you can do them any where.

Ab exercises

There are a lot of different abb exercises and none of them require any equipment. Yes, this means you can do an ab workout any where for free.

To list a few:

  • Crunch’s
  • sit ups
  • leg raises
  • plank

Believe me, there are more.

Just like the other exercises we have talked about. All ab exercises target a different part of the muscle group. You can build abs by just doing 1 ab exercise. However, if you want to build serious abs and look good, then you need to do around 3 different ab exercises.

A few things you need to know about the gym

You probably came to this post because you wanted to find a free place where you can workout. That’s fine, however, there are quite a lot of reasons why you should consider paying for a gym membership.

A big reason being the atmosphere. To some people this will sound ridiculous. However, I know that there are a few gym bros out there agreeing with me. Imagine an environment where everybody encourages each other and works hard every day. Well, that’s the gym. It’s a magical place.

Therefore, it can actually help you achieve your goals by attending the gym. You find more motivation, meet more people, and find a passion for it.

Going to the gym to exercise will be a lot more effective, trust me. Body weight exercises are great for losing weight. However, if you actually want to build muscle, then a gym is the place for you.

Having access to a range of different weight sizes and machines that will enable you to target every specific muscle will tone and define your muscles a lot better than push ups. You can achieve a lot more at the gym but you have to make that sacrifice not use a free space where you can workout.

With that being said, you can still build a good physique with only using your body weight. So, have faith and don’t give up.

Let’s sum this up

To finally draw this article to an end, I’m just going to go summarizes the few simple points I mentioned. If you are looking for a place to where you can workout for free, your own home is probably the best place for you.

If that doesn’t appeal to you, then go for a run in your local park and feel the great outdoors. It’s one of the most healthiest things you can do.

Body weight exercises are great for burning calories and building strength and yes, you can build a whole workout for free with them and do it any where you like.
